My Happy Birthday: A Quick Show of Hands I think the most important thing to remember is that every single one of us gets a chance to grow up, just like us. When you look at your friends or people you know, you will see that everyone is trying to be a better version of themselves, no matter what. It is hard to imagine that we are all the same as the day we were born, and yet we are all different because we are growing at different rates. When I turn around and look back at the first time I started to write, I remember how small I was. I had so many questions, and I wanted to know everything about the world around me. I didn't know what it meant to live, and yet I knew that I was alive. My childhood memories are a bit like the photos in a camera, and I don't think I ever forgot them because I never forgot to take a picture of them. I used to sit on the floor and look at the pictures of me as a baby, and I never imagined that those pictures would come back to me as a child. One of the things that really stands out to me is the birthday party that I had on my first birthday. Everyone was happy, and they all sang, "Happy Birthday, Mr. McDonald." I remember how the cake looked, with the candles sticking out of it. I didn't know what candles meant, but I knew that I was going to blow them out when I turned thirteen. When I was a child, I didn't know what it meant to read. I could read a lot of books, but I didn't know what it meant to understand them. I didn't know that some people write books for other people to read, and I didn't know that some people write books for themselves to read. I read books about animals, and I read books about people, and I read books about things I didn't know. I read a lot of stories, and I read a lot of jokes, and I read a lot of poems. I read a lot of things, and I read a lot of words, and I read a lot of letters. I remember how excited I was when I turned thirteen. I didn't think I would ever forget my first birthday. I didn't think I would ever forget the songs I sang, or the cake I ate, or the fireworks that went off in the sky. I didn't think I would ever forget the people who were there. I didn't think I would ever forget how much I loved them. I don't think I will ever forget my first birthday because I never forgot to take a picture of it. I don't think I will ever forget the songs I sang because I never forgot to sing them. I don't think I will ever forget the cake I ate because I never forgot to eat it. I don't think I will ever forget the people who were there because I never forgot to see them. I don't think I will ever forget how much I loved them because I never forgot to love them.
